BOURNE — Frank Rego, passed away on Oct. 30, 2008 at the Bourne Manor Extended Care Facility, at the age of 104. He was born in Falmouth on Sept. 10, 1904, to Joseph and Mary Rego Torres.

Frank was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Alberta Donahue.

Frank loved working with children and said it kept him young at heart. He was a Boy Scout leader and Scout Master of Troop No. 41 in Teaticket. His troop was honored with the American Legion Trophy. He took his troop to the 1939 World's Fair in New York and on trips to Montreal and Washington, D.C., and he also developed a Drum and Bugle Corp. He was honored on his 100th birthday at Bourne Manor, which was attended by former members of his Boy Scout Troop.

At 18 years old when he got his license, Frank was hired to drive the school bus for Falmouth schools and retired in 1966 after 40 years of service. He also served as a truant officer for the schools. Frank was a police officer in the summer, patrolling Woods Hole, the Steamship Authority and the town beaches.

Frank leaves two nephews and their wives, Edward and Barbara Towers of East Falmouth, and George and Jean Towers of Pocasset.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth center. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m., in St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main St., Falmouth. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, East Falmouth Highway, East Falmouth.

When working with Dad (Mr. Rego) in Woods Hole we had a lot of laughs. He always would tell us to be not be so quick in writing parking tickets. He would sit in the police box and smile and greet passerby´s. After all he was the Mayor of Woods Hole. Believe it or not he was quite mischievous. --- I miss him dearly.

Dad, I miss you everyday. You were such a positive and loving man who, along with Miss Donahue, looked after me for so many years. I love you both and think of you often.

Grampie,
I am so sad to think that you are no longer here with us, but I know you will be looking down on us always! You lived a long life and I will forever be grateful for all the memories I have with you and Grandma Alberta.
I'm sure she is happy to be with you again.
I will love you and miss you always,
Stephanie

Mr. Rego was my dad's Scout Leader, and he was my bus driver. He was the best! I remember him passing out Tootsie Pops, and Oranges, and always think of him when I smell a pipe. God bless him

Dad;
I am going to miss you. You have left me with so many good memories. I will always be grateful for the time and the patience that you spent with me to help me to grow as a human being. You were always there for me. Your love that you shared so freely taught me how a person should live his life. I know you were greeted by Jesus and I can see your big smile.
Your loving son;
Mitch

My mother and I both rode his school bus as children. I served with him as a police officer in Woods Hole in 1971 and 1972 where he was know as the "Mayor of Woods Hole." My sympathies to the family.

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
