Uda Fontans Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2008.
WELLFLEET — Uda Fontans passed on into heaven on Oct. 27, 2008.

She is survived by her devoted husband Joe of 54 years and two daughters, Lynn and Diane. Lynn cared for her parents through Uda's illness, with the support of her husband John and assisted by Diane.

Uda was a friend to all creatures. Her granddaughter Erica is now sharing this love of animals with her five-month old son Deric. Uda's first granddaughter Julie has saved and adopted many dogs over the years. It makes all our hearts sing to remember Mom so happy, smiling and laughing with a pet.

Uda was a professional nurse and worked in New Jersey as an RN nurturing and healing the sick and injured. Her commitment to saving and supporting human life was a passion. The job was a vehicle for her to share her wisdom and love. She had an intuitive sense of what a patient would need to begin the healing process, both physically and emotionally. Her daughter Diane said, "Uda introduced me to a patient who became my mentor. She changed the direction of my life and guided me into a career of education, culture and art, which I share with my husband Charles."

Uda Fontans loved to laugh. She loved the rain. She loved Cape Cod. She loved her husband. She loved her family and her friends. We will all miss her. As we move through our lives without Uda her voice will resonate in our memories, "take it day by day."
