Lulu, Hallie, Lynn and Ellen,

Your mother was a marvelous person. It was an honor to count her as a friend, and many years ago to have had her as student in CPE. With her hospital and AIDS ministries, she offered goodness and love to many people who were living with such severe difficulties. With her legacy, you have so much to be proud of.

When I saw her this past summer, she was eloquent in speaking of how the four of you had made her life so joyous. You were her pride and joy.

Blessings on you all. May your mother's memory and fine works nourish you.

Ellen, Lynn, Lulu and Hallie; how fortunate you all are to have been raised by such a remarkable woman who epitomized the role of unassuming, passionate and humble servant to those most in need. My memories of football and soccer games in the yard at Rumsey Rd. remain vivid as do Sunday evening Bills games on TV in the den. In typical Moose fashion, she eased mom's preparations prior to my wedding at Union Chapel and hosted the entire family for a truly memorable weekend (Ellen, thanks again for the Heineken delivery at the back steps of UC just prior to game time). It was always reassuring to see the convertible parked at Scudder and Wachusett as my now growing family arrived annually in August for a couple of weeks on Squaw Island with my in-laws... a true friend from the past, always a cold beer waitng and great debate over the future of our beloved Episcopal Church. Who else, upon my then 5 year old son's hurling of a day's worth of chocolate candy from the News Shop all over her living room carpet, would coyly refrain, "guess we better get some paper towel". She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but I will always feel her spirit in the sands of the Beach Club. Carry on Griggs women!

Our thoughts, hearts, and prayers are with you and much love is sent to embrace each and every one of you. Your mother was a jewel of a person with a generous heart and genuine spirit that lives on in all of you. She knew how to have fun and she knew how to live, and did it better than most! There will be something very large missing from a small town on Cape Cod and this planet. We will miss your mother but we will smile with great memories and affection always.
