MARBLEHEAD - Dorothy (Fish) D'Alessandro, age 80, of Marblehead, passed away on Aug. 21, 2007, in Massachusetts General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Hyannis, on July 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Prescott L. and Rosa J. (Lumbert) Fish. She was raised in Centerville, and graduated from Barnstable High School. She also held degrees from Bridgewater State College in elementary education and Salem State College in counseling. She was married to Alfred C. D'Alessandro of Marblehead from 1949-1996.

For 25 years, she was the owner of Arbella Yarns in Salem. She had previously worked as an elementary school teacher and counselor at the Marblehead Community Counseling Center.

Dorothy loved traveling, knitting, gardening, classical music and reading. She will be missed for her artistic flair, quick wit and courage.

She was the mother of Lisa D'Alessandro and her husband Michael D. Hirsch of Washington, D.C., and Liane D. Davis and her husband Paul R. Davis of Marblehead; sister of Marilyn F. Chase and William A. Fish, both of Hyannis; and grandmother of Hannah and Thomas Davis of Marblehead.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Eustis-Cornell Funeral Home, Marblehead.
