Catherine Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2007.
CENTERVILLE - Catherine M. Davis, 80, died Sept. 15, 2007, after a short illness.

Known to all as Kay, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Kay was born in Providence, R.I., to Michael and Frances (McCahey) Butler.

She graduated from St. Frances Xavier Academy in Providence, R.I., and in 1945 graduated from the Johnson and Wales Business School.

After graduation, she worked as a secretary in Providence, where she met her husband Robert L. Davis.

In 1954, they moved to Auburn, where they raised their family. In 1978, the family moved to Centerville. Her husband passed away in 1979 after a brief illness.

For many years, Kay worked for Dr. Chester Boulris, ophthalmologist, in Hyannis.

After her retirement from Dr. Boulris' office, Kay continued to work part-time for Realty Executives, Hyannis, as a receptionist.

She enjoyed reading, honing her computer skills, and traveling. In recent years, Kay made trips to Paris, London, and Ireland.

Kay was a passionate Red Sox fan. Most of all, she took pleasure in spending time with her family and with her best friend, Carol Schofield, of South Dennis.

Her smile, sense of humor, and ability to make everyone feel like they were her favorite will always remain in her family's hearts and memories.

Kay was the mother of six children and 14 grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, James H. Davis and his wife Jan, and their children Caroline, Julie, and Jenna of Hingham; Elisabeth (Betsy) Grady and her husband Patrick of Worcester; Katherine (Kasey) McCarthy and her husband George and children Daniel, Claire, and Anna of Cohasset; Robert B. Davis and his wife Laura and children Emily and Jessica of Marstons Mills; Paul V. Davis and his wife Karen, and children Halle and Ella of Norwell; Edward M. Davis and his children Siobhan, Teddy, and Richelle of Suffield, Conn.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan M. Davis of Hingham.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Ave., Osterville.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross or Children's Hospital Suicide Prevention Program.

Shocked and saddened to hear about Kay. She was a wonderful lady. I worked with her at Realty Executives for many years. When I left, she was who I missed most. I'd stop by on weekends just to say hi and see her wonderful smile and have a chat. She was so proud of her wonderful family!

She will truly be missed....

My sincere condolences to all her family
