Kathryn Kearns Obituary

WALLINGFORD, Conn. - Kathryn Marcinek Kearns, a longtime Wallingford, Conn., resident, most recently residing in Cape Cod, and Boca Raton, Fla., died on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, on Cape Cod.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roy F. Kearns, a Meriden Record Journal reporter for many years and her son, James F. Kearns, who served in the Air Force in Korea.

On Sept. 17, Kay celebrated her 96th birthday with all her children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Elizabeth K. Molumphy, her husband Tom of Hillsborough, Calif., Karen K. O'Brien, her husband Brent of Douglastown, Pa., Leroy F. Kearns Jr., his wife Elaine, of Amherst, N.H., and Noel J. Kearns with whom she lived, of Cape Cod and Boca Raton.

Kay is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was so proud of the fact that she was able to attend each grandchild's graduation from high school and college, from Epping, N.H., to Santa Barbara, Calif., from Memphis, Tenn., to Newtown, Pa.

Kay (Mrs. Kearns) will be remembered well by faculty and students of Lyman Hall High School, where she worked as secretary to the vice principal for over 20 years.

Her family will receive relatives and friends, in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main Street Ext., Wallingford, Conn., Monday, from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in the family plot, at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden.

Noelle,

I wish to express my sympathy to you at this difficult time. I am so thankful that I was able to meet with you and your mom one more time. She was a special person and she will always be remembered for that. Take care and I hope that you will find comfort in all the wonderful memories that were created over the years.
