WEST BARNSTABLE —

Nanita E. (Mandeville) Loughman, 96, died Oct. 15, 2007, at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Centerville.

Born in Hartford, Conn., on Nov. 20, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Mandeville. She moved to Barre in 1924, when her father went to manage a grain mill. She lived in Barre for many years, raising a family and being involved in many activities.

She was administrative assistant to the superintendent of schools for the town of Barre until she moved to the Cape 1967, living in West Barnstable.

A 50-year plus member of the Eastern Star (Cradle Rock Chapter), she also served as their worthy Matron in 1935. She was a volunteer at the cancer thrift shop in Barnstable Village for 20 years and also at Green Briar Nature center in Sandwich for many years.

She loved to cook, knit, needlepoint and read, and was never happier than when there was a family gathering. She was a wonderful grandmother and lately loved seeing her great-grandchildren.

She leaves a daughter, Jean Jule and her husband, Robert, of West Barnstable; grandchildren, Christopher Jule and his wife, Jennifer, of Bridgewater, and Amy Taris and her husband, Lou, of Norwood; great-grandchildren, Kiefer Jule, Bridget and Nate Taris.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Maureen, and her sister, Roberta James.

A visiting hour will be held in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial is in Glen Valley Cemetery, Barre.

Donations may be made to the Marie Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 56, Barre, MA 01005.

"NITA" WAS A DARLING, "LADY", AND I WISH I HAD GOT TO KNOW HER BETTER. SHE WAS A ASSET TO PINE OAKS 3. SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.
I WISH I HAD KNOWN SOONER, I WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE ATTENDED THE VIEWING. LOVE AND SYMPATHY, LOIS#336
