CENTERVILLE — John Craig Richmond, 83, died at home on Oct. 18, 2007.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (McLain) Richmond of 53 years; father of John Richmond of Hyannis, Carol Richmond Tsang of White Plains, N.Y., and Emily Richmond-Jones of Barragup, Australia; brother of Nancy Waggoner of San Jose, Calif.; grandfather of Susan Fishback of Centerville and Julie Richmond of Hyannis; and great-grandfather of Evan and Liam Fishback. He leaves his sister-in-law, Josephine Adams of Rochester, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved companion, Evelyn Mahoney of Hyannis.

John was born in Williamson, N.Y., and raised in Rochester, N.Y. He attended the University of Rochester, where he met Elizabeth. They married in 1948, after their graduation from the University of Rochester. He worked on Wall Street for many years until 1973, when he became a deputy treasurer for the state of Connecticut.

After retiring in 1987, he and Elizabeth moved to Centerville, joining their son and his family on Cape Cod. He was active in the Osterville Men's Club, and served in several capacities at West Parish Church and The Federated Church of Hyannis. He volunteered at the Cape Cod Hospital Medical Center in Hyannis and the Cape Cod Art Museum in Dennis for many years. John loved bridge, politics, classical music, lively discussions, and a good joke.

Visiting hours will be in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road (Route 28), Marstons Mills, on Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be in the Federated Church of Hyannis, Main Street, Hyannis on Monday, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

John was a car-pool regular with Tom, Turner, Harry & Len. They did have fun. He will be remembered

What a dear friend dating back many years-1956. We had such fun with our carpool and staying in touch in later years. God Bless, Turner
