Richard Kelliher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 25, 2007.
SOUTH DENNIS — Richard "Dick" Kelliher passed away peacefully at home, on Oct. 18, 2007, following a long battle with lung cancer.

Dick was the loving husband of Fran (Shaw) Kelliher for more than 42 years, and a loving and caring father to his two children, Michael Kelliher and his wife Kimberly of Kingston, and Geri Ewing and her husband Doug of Dennis. He also leaves behind his four cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Lauren, Ben, and Nathan. In addition, he also leaves behind his brother, James Kelliher and his wife Mary, and his sister, Veronica Tetreault and her husband Merritt.

Dick was employed by the State of Massachusetts for 36 years and retired as a district supervisor for the Department of Environmental Management. Upon retirement, he was employed by the Four Points Sheraton as a greens-keeper.

An outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed sunsets, walks in the woods, and meeting with friends at the local coffee shop. He especially loved the ocean, where he would spend long hours fishing for tuna in Cape Cod Bay.

Dick and his wife own Dennis Village Travel and they both enjoyed traveling together around the world.

A memorial in celebration of Dick's life will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster, on Monday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m., with a gathering to follow at a location to be announced at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dick's memory may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601, or Our Lady of the Cape Building Fund, P.O. Box 1799, Brewster, MA 02631-7799.
