MASHPEE — Wojciech Radziul, 59, of Mashpee, died on Monday at New England Sinai Hospital, after a long illness.

He was born in Poland, where he graduated from Torun University with a master's degree in history and political sciences with the highest honors.

Deeply involved in the Solidarity political movement in Warsaw, he was forced to leave Poland. He emigrated to USA and settled in Falmouth, and then moved to Mashpee. He had worked for the town of Falmouth's school department for the past 18 years.

An avid tennis player, he loved to travel, and was always deeply interested in politics.

He leaves behind his wife, Jolanta of Mashpee; brothers, Janusz and Zbigniew; nieces, Joanna, Agnieszka, Justyna, Anna, Angelina, Aneta and nephew Andrzej in Poland; and parents-in-law, Gabriela and Jerzy Modrzejewski of East Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Christ the King Chapel, Mashpee Commons, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at 10 a.m.

Memorials in his name may be made to New England Sinai Hospital, 150 York St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
