FALMOUTH — Lois Marie (Mencke) Mueller, 79, died unexpectedly as a result of a sudden illness, on Nov. 9, 2007.

Born on Jan. 9, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wis., Lois married Charles Mueller, also from Milwaukee, in 1950. They moved to Washington State, and then on to Utah, Illinois and Massachusetts. They shared the majority of their lives together in Framingham and Falmouth, where they settled permanently in 1998.

Graduating from the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing, Lois practiced as a registered nurse for many years. Her many creative talents were expressed in her fashion sewing and millinery.

During her many travels, she was forever collecting interesting materials for her crafts, wreaths, and wall hangings. She exercised her entrepreneurial talents as a business woman and owner of The House of Sewing in Framingham, introducing innovative fabrics and sewing techniques. In addition, she was employed for many years by the Fabric Place, also in Framingham, as a sewing instructor, tailor, department manager, and interior decorator.

During her very successful and varied ventures, her family always came first. She was passionate about watching the sunset over Buzzards Bay in the company of her husband and loved ones, feeding the birds (and squirrels) in her backyard, gardening, traveling the globe, and capturing treasured moments in photographs. She loved pouring over catalogues, doing puzzles and was waiting to be a winner of Publisher's Clearinghouse.

Lois doted on her husband, children and grandchildren as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Robert Mueller; two sons, Timothy and his wife, Joan, of Tucson, Ariz., and Thomas and his wife, Nancy, of Portland, Conn.; a daughter, Tamara Urmey and her husband, Bill, of Larchmont, N.Y.; her cherished grandchildren, Kathryn, Ian, Kaela, Max, Allie and Anetta; and grandpuppies, Cassandra, Emma, Beagle Boy and Milly.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 68 Main St., Falmouth, followed by a reception in the church hall. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to The 300 Committee (a local land acquisition/conservation organization), 157 Locust St., Falmouth, MA 02540; The First Congregational Church 300th Anniversary Fund, 68 Main St., Falmouth, MA 02540, or to a local charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth.
