Barbara Kelley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 14, 2007.
HYANNIS — Barbara A. (Colleton) Kelley, 59, of Hyannis, died peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Nov. 11, 2007.

She was the loving wife of Wellington L. "Sonny" Kelley for 39 years.

Born in Chelsea, Mrs. Kelley was raised in Roxbury and Newton Upper Falls. She moved to South Yarmouth with her family in 1964 and graduated from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School in 1965.

In her younger years, Mrs. Kelley worked as a waitress at the former Gould's Restaurant and at the former Bass River Seafood Restaurant in South Yarmouth. She then worked at home for many years, raising her three children. From 1986 to 2005, Mrs. Kelley worked in the bakery department at Stop & Shop in Hyannis.

When her health started to decline and after being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Mrs. Kelley lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time at the beaches with her family and friends, took trips to New Hampshire, and traveled to her favorite spot, Foxwoods.

Mrs. Kelley was well known for her infectious smile, and she had a positive attitude toward life that she shared with everyone that she met. She will be sorely missed by the many relatives and friends she made through her lifetime.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kelley is survived by her three beloved and adored children, Debra (Kelley) Santos and her husband, Donald, of West Yarmouth, Laura Kelley and her companion, Brian Finnegan, of Hyannis, and Brian Kelley and his fiancee, Suzie Daley, of Yarmouthport. She was also the best friend and special sister to Eleanor Gustowski of West Yarmouth, Eileen Fowler and her husband, Jerry, of Hyannis, and Robert Colleton Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Mashpee. She is also the daughter of Eleanor (Mueller) Colleton of West Yarmouth and the late Robert Colleton, Sr., with whom she has gone to be with. Mrs. Kelley is also survived by six grandchildren, Cassandra and Crystal Santos, Ashley Birch, Anthony Daley, Brian Jr. and Mariah Kelley; her special kitty "Baby," whom she saved from the wilderness; several nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories "Auntie Bee" leaves with them; and her lifelong friends, Julie Avery and Sue Perry of Dennis. She will live in our hearts forever.

Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Interment will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the funeral home.

Heres a little poem/song for my Aunt Barb.
Really gonna miss you,It's gonna be different without you,Time is gonna be hard and slow,For the rest of my life Im gonna be thinking about you,Time came when you had to go.

I'll miss you my Auntie,I'll miss you my friend,I promise my love for you will never end.

In your finest hour I was there with you and without you things won't be the same,But there's a higher power that we answer to and you heard him calling your name.
really gonna miss you everything about you your smiling face,I know you would want us all to be strong.Really gonna miss you I know you've gone to that magic place,Singing you a christmas song.

I'll miss you my auntie,I'll miss you my friend,I promise my love for you will never end.

I'll miss you Aunt Barb and I will never forget you and thank you for all the great memories you gave me and my family.I will always keep my house lit up for you on christmas and I will always play you a tune on the guitar as long as you sing.love you
Love always,
(your puppy puddles),Bud

In Loving Memory Of My Sister and Very Best Friend "Bee".There are not enough words that can describe the extraordinary "sister"and friend that Barbara was....They broke the mold when she was made and there will never be no other.....

There's no better friend than a sister
There's no one more loyal and true
You were always there beside me
Doing everything you could do

Memories of moments
That we were made to share
The tears, the joy and crazy laughter
That was somehow always there

Perhaps it was the family resemblance
That strengthened the bond that we shared
Or maybe its just that as sisters
We lived life with a similiar flair

There was no one more in my corner
And no one I'm more grateful to
There's no better friend than a sister
There's no better sister than you

And though its hard to accept or to face it
As some dreams have come apart
Nothing can change the love for you
That will live on in my heart

Although I feel you were cheated
I have often already repeated
Chance Made Us Sisters
Hearts Made Us Friends
I'll hold on to the love we shared
Until we meet again!

See you in North Dakota Bee.I will love and miss you forever and always,
Lee
