SOUTH YARMOUTH — Robert W. Fraser Sr., 81, died on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at Cape Cod Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Carol M. (Hansen) Fraser for 51 years and father of five.

Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Robert and I. Alberta Fraser. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1943. Immediately following, he enlisted in World War II as a B29 right wing gunner in the 20th Air Force. He flew 33 missions in the C/B/I Theater. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross.

After World War II, he attended Northeastern University. He became a mechanical design engineer, earning 23 patents and was vice president of Nexus Inc. in Stamford, Conn. He enjoyed woodcarving, painting, gardening and golf.

He was the loving father of Jane Cote and her husband, Guy, of Westbrook, Maine, Robert Fraser Jr. and his wife, Jordy, Scott Fraser and his wife, Marge, all of Stamford, Conn., Janice Hamilton and her husband, Thom, of Southbury, Conn., and Judy Keefer and her husband, Richard, of Milford, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Heather and Adam Cote, Scott Jr. and Charles Fraser, Megan, Caitlyn, and Allison Hamilton. His sister, Barbara Zwicker and her husband, Basil, of South Yarmouth also survive him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will directly follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Cape Cod Hospital, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601.
