William C. Bento

EAST FALMOUTH — William C. Bento, 81, of East Falmouth, died on Dec. 4, 2007, at Radius Cape Heritage in Sandwich.

He was the husband of Lillian D. (Duarte) Bento for 60 years.

Mr. Bento was born and raised in Falmouth. He attended Falmouth schools and then joined the Navy during World War II.

For several years, he worked as a mason for Ralph Sylvia and was a call fireman for the East Falmouth Fire Station. Later, he joined the Local 3 Bricklayers Union in Boston and was a member for 50 years. In 1989, he retired and worked part time at Falmouth Lumber.

He was a former member of the Midway Trap & Skeet Club in East Falmouth. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting deer.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William G. Bento and Steven Bento, both of East Falmouth; two grandchildren, William G. Bento and Charlie Kelley Solazarno, both of East Falmouth; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Bento and William G. Bento, both of East Falmouth; four sisters, Adeline Hardy, Octavia Liebich, and Cecelia LaJoie, all of Falmouth, and Claire Ames of Hyannis; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Falmouth Center. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 167 E. Falmouth Highway (Route 28), East Falmouth. Burial is at St. Anthony Cemetery.
