Frank Naughton Obituary

WEST HARWICH — Frank Ussher Naughton III, of West Harwich, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2007, surrounded by loved ones, at Cape Cod Hospital, from complications after a battle with Alzheimers.

Born in Worcester, on March 14, 1927, Frank was a direct descendant of Stephen Hopkins, signer of the Declaration of Independence. He is a World War II Army veteran.

Frank graduated from Bancroft School, Phillips Academy, Andover, class of 1945, Harvard College, class of 1950, and the Harvard Business School, class of 1953.

In 1958, he and his beloved wife, Elizabeth Sayre, were united in marriage. The two resided in Short Hills, N.J. Both were active members of Christ Church. For 36 years, Frank was vice president at the Bank of New York in the Personal Trust Department. After his retirement, they moved to the home which his parents built in 1928 in West Harwich.

He enjoyed traveling, music, gardening, sailing, working with The Harvard College Fund, and spending time with friends and family.

Frank was active at St. Christopher's Church, Chatham, where he served on many committees. He was a member of the Stone Horse Yacht Club, Harvard Club of New York, Harvard Club of Cape Cod, and longtime member of Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, N.J.

Along with his wife, Elizabeth, Frank leaves a son, Stephen Naughton and his wife, Brandy, of Rising Sun, Md.; a daughter, Elizabeth Jutras and her husband, Peter, of Hudson, N.H., and West Harwich. He also leaves his grandchildren, Melyssa Millett, Nelson Millett, Jamie Jutras, Laura Millett, and Robert Millett.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 7, at St. Christopher's Church, Chatham.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod, 712 Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601, or St. Christopher's Church, 625 Main St., Chatham, MA 02633.

Dear Liz and family: We are so sorry to read of Frank's passing. We have fond memories of him bringing Liz to knitting. He was a delightful man who clearly loved is wife and family.
