SOUTH YARMOUTH — James Louis Moruzzi, 63, of South Yarmouth died peacefully at home on Dec. 5, 2007, after a 14-month battle with brain cancer.

James was born in Hyannis and lived on Cape Cod his whole life. He graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth High School in 1962, and went on to study math and biology at Bridgewater State College. He became a teacher and then went into the Army in 1967.

James was stationed in Oderzo, Italy, where he met the love of his life, Bruna. They were married in 1977, and she returned with him to the United States. James then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for 36 years. James was more than just a mailman. He always took good care of the customers on his route, who became his friends. He was quick to lend a hand, stop to chat, or tell a joke.

James enjoyed traveling, which he did extensively with his family. He also enjoyed clamming, which he did year round, even in the middle of winter. He was loved by all and will never be forgotten.

James is survived by his wife, Bruna, of South Yarmouth; his daughter, Bianca, of Weymouth; his twin sister, Jean, of West Yarmouth; and his sister, Cindy, of Waldorf, Md., as well as other family.

Family will receive friends at Morris & O'Connor Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, South Yarmouth, on Monday, Dec. 10, at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cape Cod Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601, specified in memory of Jim Moruzzi for the Mugar Cancer Center. Donations can also be made to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA), 2720 River Road, Des Plains, IL 60018, by phone at 1-800-886-2282, or online at www.abta.org.

Jean,
So sorry to hear about Jimmy. The last time I saw him we met by chance while we both were having dinner at Captain Parker's. Jim and I got caught up on old times exchanging stories and reminiscing about fun things in school as well as his and your birthday party in first grade at your house with your dad and your mom. What a wonderful guy was your brother!

Dear Moruzzi Family,
We are saddened to learn of Jimmy's passing, and will remember him in our thoughts and prayers. We have wonderful memories of him and all the kindness he spread where ever he worked. He was such a breath of fresh air and took such good care of us in the real estate office in the 5200 Building. My mother on Driving Tee Circle adored him. With our deepest sympathies, Lee and Dory Marchildon

Jean, Jim was part of our family for many years. Our dog Rocky would wait for Jim at the fence. Jim would let Rocky ride with him down the street and back. Rocky would give jim a great big kiss and his paw, jump out till the next time. We know he is sitting back, relaxing and laughing at all his coworkers delivering in the cold. Many good thoughts and great stories.

Jean: It only seems like yesterday when we were all walking the halls of D-Y.
In reading the write up on Jimmy, it didn't surprise me to know lots of people adored him.
My condolences to you, Cindy, Bruna
and Bianca.

Bruna, Bianca, Jean & Cindy;

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. I’ve known Jimmy since I was eight years old growing up in West Yarmouth, as he and my Brother Van where good friends. I had Jim as a biology teacher at DY and he was a good teacher.

I know he loved his work as a postal carrier as I’d see him along Highbank road conversing with folks on his route and petting their dogs. Last year on my visit to the Cape Van & I had breakfast with Jimmy and Bianca and he was jolly as ever. Jimmy will not only be missed by our family but surely missed by the whole community he served.
