Ed & I were saddened and shocked to hear of David's death.
We went to school in Wrentham with many of the Binney clan and we have fond memories of time we shared with them.
I often would go to their home and visit Linda and was amazed how they all worked together to live in their small, but adequate home.
David has left a mark on all he has met and we are grateful for his service to his country. He was so proud to attend West Point and then to serve in the FBI. Our prayers of comfort go out to the Binney family and friends. May we all celebrate his life with happy memories.

I grew up across the street from Dave and his family and was sometimes known as the 13th Binney. We had fun in our youth, seeing as how the Binneys had every kind of ball field known to mankind. I am retired law enforcement from NASA here in Florida. Our paths never crossed professionally, but I will always remember how we blended as kids. God Bless Dave for his service to our great country and God Bless his family, too.

Like so many others who have written, it was with great sadness that I learned of Dave's pasing. My thoughts and prayers and appreciation go out to the entire Binney family. Thank you for sharing with the FBI family for so many years, a man of character, integrity, humor and leadership. All one need do to succeed in today's FBI, or yesterday's, is to study and emulate what Dave Binney did and how he did it.
He will surely be missed.

Count me in as another friend of Dave's who is juggling grief and disbelief at his untimely passing. I attended high school with Dave in Wrentham MA, a town in which the Binney family was loved and admired. Dave's ready grin and easygoing nature are cherished memories. Sending love and support to you all.

Dear Carolyn, Steve, Geoff and my whole extended Binney family,
Please accept my condolences and prayers in the loss of David.
As his aunt I know David made Hank and Alyce and all of us very proud.
However, David's professional accomplishments were never talked about in family circles. If he missed a family get-together or such we knew it was because of his important work.
Now reading about his career and contributions it all makes perfect sense. It seems David has a higher calling now. God Bless.
Love, Ginny

I had the pleasure of being Dave's secretary when he was SAC in St. Louis. He was a joy to work for. He was a very thoughtful, intelligent man with a great sense of humor. I remember how much he loved reading the Calvin and Hobbes comic strips every day. Most of all, I'll remember how he got the St. Louis Division through a very difficult time when SA Doug Abram was killed in the line of duty in January, 1990. My sympathy goes out to the Binney family. They have lost a wonderful husband, father, & brother. But, most of all, we have all lost a wonderful human being.

So many of the good things that happened during my life was because of the Binney family and especially my life time friend and buddy Dave (The Rock) (Binzo). You never had to worry about finding someone to play ball (any sport) when the Binney's were home.
To each of the extended Binney family I send you my deepest graditude and sympathy. Man, will I (we) miss you Dave. Thanks for your enthusiam for life... thanks for all the laughs...thanks so much for being like a real brother..(like you needed another brother!). My thoughts, my love and deepest sympathy are with you all.

Carl Schultz

October 7, 2008

I had the pleasure of serving with Dave when he was the SAC of the St. Louis Division of the FBI. He was, without a doubt, one of the finest SACs I ever had. Dave was always supportive of his people, let them do their jobs, stayed out of their way and was quick to praise for a job well done. Many times I told him that he ran an office the way an excellent military officer would. He would just laugh and say when you have good people, just let them do their jobs. In a time of crisis involving a shooting and the death of an agent, Dave's feelings for his people showed greatly. He was the consummate professional and will be missed.

October 7, 2008

Dave Binney will forever be remembered as one who lived his life in the finest traditions of both a West Point Officer and Special Agent of the FBI. He not only inspired others to excellence; but he led by example in that quest. I, like many others consider it an honor to have called him a friend. May God forever keep and hold him until we meet again. He and his family remain in my heart and prayers.

Jack Hunt

October 7, 2008

Dave Binney was a gentleman and a geniune friend for those who worked with him and knew him. He had one of the most difficult tasks for someone assigned to FBIHQ, he was supposed to develop the FBI's drug program. Dave did this in the same manner he did everything else with class. He will be missed and he never forgot a friend. All of us who worked with him during the development of the drug program benefitted greatly from his vision and leadership.

Emanuel Johnson, Jr.

October 7, 2008

My most profound sympathy to the Binney family on your lost. I have known Dave my entire Bureau career, as he was assigned to the Indianapolis, Indiania Division when I reported as a new SA. He was later my ASAC in the WFO. I was fortunate to have Dave available to consult on some rather trying times in my Bureau career. Each time he provided critically sound advice in a most encouraging manner. Since hearing of Dave's death, I have commiserated with others who knew him and all recall him as an individual of outstanding integrity. This world could use many more Dave Binneys. May his soul rest in Peace!

October 7, 2008

To the Binney Family,

I had the pleasure of meeting Dave and working with him in the IBM Security community. He is one of the kindest and most honorable men I have ever met. He treated us all with respect and cared about every one of us. He was even very kind to me when we played golf together since my game was/is rather lacking.

My prayers and best wishes go out to you all for sharing such a wonderful man with all of us.

October 7, 2008

Profound sympathies and prayers to the Binney family - and our nation - we have lost a great friend, colleague, and role model. His legacy of caring, intelligence, compassion, and commitment to the highest of moral and personal values lives on, however, as a beacon to all of us. As former President of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and of the International Security Management Association (ISMA), Dave will remain in the soul of these organizations and their members forever.

October 7, 2008

Our deepest condolences to the Binney family. I first met Dave in the middle of my FBI service while we were both in Washington, DC and we were surprised to discover that we were from adjoining towns in Massachusetts (Wrentham and Franklin) and new many of the same people growing up. We continued our friendship throughout his outstanding leadership positions in the FBI and in the business security sector. We retired to the coast of Maine and had dinner with Dave whenever he visited his place in Popham Beach, Maine. As many have said, a truly good man who served his family and country well. Rest in peace.

Kevin Kendrick

October 7, 2008

To the Binney Family: Words simply cannot express my deep sorrow for your loss. As you know better than all, he was truly a wonderful person and will be forever remembered as such by his FBI family. God bless and keep you all.

Tony Taylor

October 7, 2008

My name is Tony Taylor. I knew Dave as my IBM boss's boss's boss (manager's managers manager) - in IBM terms, the top man in the IBM world of security. I was a lowly security manager from a very small country (New Zealand). Dave, who treated me with equality and respect, became friends (unheard of) in the corporate world.
I know you are are missing him deeper than I, but I need to tell you that I have lost a friend and I feel so cheated that Dave and I will never shake each other's hand and share another joke again.
Please accept my humble condolescences.

I wish to thank Mr. Binney for welcoming me on his family vacations with Geoff and Steve, and into his home during my weekend getaways from Marine Corps training in Quantico. He still allowed me to come along even after I crashed into him while skiing Mohawk Mountain. He joked about that every time I saw him. It's easy to understand how he influenced so many lives. Michelle and I offer our sympathies and prayers. God Bless Mr. Binney.

Gene Schneider

October 6, 2008

Dave was one of the most ethical people I have ever known. We met Dave in the bleachers watching our boys play little league baseball in Danbury CT and our friendship continued for thirty years. We shared so much of life together, and of course with Dave it was always real. His sons were his pride and joy, and his daughters in law “just perfect”. He adored his grandkids and loved to tell us the latest news on them. Always interesting and interested in how we were. High times, low times, the weddings and funerals, the promotions and retirements.
We met last year for lunch in Plymouth MA. Dave wanted Carolyn to share his joy of the Cape. We always teased Dave about his arriving early and as we pulled in to the parking lot at 11:45 A.M. for our noon meeting, there sat Dave and Carolyn...early!
You left us too early buddy, but you added laughs, joy, reality, and life to our life.
Sincere Condolences and love to all the Binneys.
