Winfred Gravley Obituary

Winfred Wilson Gravley
GREENVILLE -- Mr. Gravley, 90, of 704 Crescent Avenue, widower of Mary Phillips Gravley, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at St. Francis, Downtown.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late John Jackson and Nora Chappell Gravley. Mr. Gravley was the owner of Plaza Barber Shop for 58 years and was a former Treasurer of the South Carolina Barbers Association. He had been a member of Dunean Baptist Church since 1957 where he served as an Elder and was a member of the Teller Committee. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Steve Epton of Seneca, Jan and Paul Billingsley of Charlotte, NC; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Jean Gravley of Waterloo, John and Janine Gravley of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, John Epton of Arlington, VA, Beth Wald and her husband, Keith, of Easley, Andy Epton and his wife, Lisa, of Williamsburg, VA, Tom Epton of Charleston, Mark Gravley of Greenville, Katelyn Gravley of Kansas City, MO; two great grandchildren, Brody Wald of Easley and Dalton Gravley of Greenville; four sisters, Wilma Friddle of Greenville, Ruth Poole of Greenville, Ruby Lister and her husband, Clois, of Tigerville, Jean Langley and her husband, Calvin, of Travelers Rest; and a brother, Ralph Gravley and his wife, Francis, of Greer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dunean Baptist Church, 21 Allen Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Dunean Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
