Think of Keith often. In our youth , our prime and after retirement. He will surely be at the pearly gate to welcome family and friends on their final journey.

To the entire Rohlfs family:
It is written somewhere that a true friend reaches out his hand and touches your heart. That was Keith in our lives and as Bob has told you, "If you were lucky enough to be Keith's friend, it is for life!"
For over 40 years we've known the highs and lows of each others lives. Keith's use of "colorful terms" that he used only with those he loved dearly were his way of covering a soft heart. No Marine wants to appear soft!!!!
We miss Keith in our lives, but know he is with the Lord. Keith's body no longer hurts him and we believe somehow he knows what is going on in our lives and is very happy. We believe he knows we miss him, love him, and will always cherish his friendship as we cherish each of you.

Linda & Family: I was truly saddened to hear of Keith's passing. He will be missed by all the people he touched. I had the pleasure to work with Keith at Mico. He was a great mentor and a true professional.

My friendship with Keith evolved from my friendship with Linda. I will always appreciate how I have been welcomed into their home and lifes. Keith was so very helpful to me with advice and occasional handyman projects, and some of the best meals that I have shared in my life. I will always appreciate fond memories when I think about Keith, and he is sadly missed. With all my love and deepest sympathy—Denise Breheny

Dee and I were greatly saddened to hear of Keith's death, and we extend our deepest sympathy to Linda and the family. I had talked with him on the phone just a few days earlier, and we caught up on what we had been doing lately. So it was a huge shock when Linda called us with the news. Keith and I had been friends for well over 50 years -- since we were in Lincoln Junior High in Mankato. We had many great and memorable times together, both as kids and later when we had our own families. When Keith and Linda lived in Pennsylvania and we were in Maryland, our family really looked forward to our visits to their little farm. The kids all had so much fun playing together. Wonderful memories. Keith was everything you could ask for in a friend, and we will miss him terribly.

As a friend throughout high school, Keith was truly the best. He was fun-loving, trustworthy, friendly to all, and had a broad smile and an infectious laugh. He was never judgmental of others; he was genuinely kind, and caring, and generous.
Whether he wore the varsity cross country or track uniform, that of the U.S. Marines, or one of his many other hats in life, he made all who knew him proud. His natural abilities, his work ethic, his courage, and his dedication to what was right, were among his many admirable qualities.
I was blessed by the opportunity to get to know his "first family" in Mankato - mom and dad, Judy and Wayne, and then again, some years later, to get to know Linda, Coleen, Eric, and Jill. Keith was so proud of each of you, and often talked about how much joy and happiness you gave him.
Shari and I celebrate his life, and what he gave to us and others who knew him. We'll think of him often and smile, and, sometimes, shed a tear. But mostly, our hearts will swell with pride that he considered us friends.
He was truly a gift.

Dear Colleen,
Ray and I were so sorry to hear about your dad. We first met him when we were looking at the 'cottage' for sale across the street. His warmth and kindness were our first introduction to this neighborhood we love.
We'd been househunting for too long that day, and Christina, then a three-year-old, decided she needed to go to the bathroom "right now!" I had never met your dad, but I was desperate, and asked if my little girl could please use theirs. He said, typically, "Of course!"
Thus, we met one of the finest men, and certainly one of the kindest neighbors, we've ever known. His ready smile, innate goodness and unpretentious warmth helped Island Forest feel like home almost immediately.
In the years we were neighors, he was always cheerful, always friendly and always happy to visit a bit when we met by the mailboxes. We was so proud of his family and enjoyed you all so much!
We sure missed him when he and your mom moved, but it was good to know they were so happy in their new house. In the fine tradition of Island Forest, though, their house here will always be "the Rohlfs' house' to me, and I'll continue to toss up a small prayer for him, and all of you, every time I pass by.

Many a time Keith would call and brighten our day with his great spirit and laugh. Over the years our families have shared many good times with 4th of July parties, yearly trips to visit family and friends in the Mankato area and a special time when we visited his family in North Carolina. Besides our childhoods, we shared many common interests in woodworking, fishing, class of '59 friends, and our regular exchange of emails. One special time to share with all was a father/son fishing trip to northern Minnesota. That's when I got to know Eric better and experienced the real joy our kids can bring us as they grow up. Keith would want us to carry on his joy, good spirits and faith in the future.
Love always,

I have always admired Keith's way for making fast and permanent friends. I was fortunate to be one of his friends from about 9th grade on to the end. We value the last visit Gwen and I had with him when we visited in 2004 at his home. I wish we would have lived closer and had more time together. Our deepest sympathy,

I have good memories of Keith.
He was a man with a good heart, said what he meant and a real family man.Easter,Thanksgiving and Christmas and every Sunday he always wanted to make sure the whole family was there for dinner.
After the divorce I didnot see him that often but a couple of times a year I swung by his house for a cup of coffee.
I enjoyed him a lot and will miss him.
Rest in peace,Keith.

As a teenager, I too knew Mr. Rohlfs as the man in the chair by the stairs. He was a constant and somewhat scary presence. As an adult, I came to realize that he was the stable force that kept the Rohlfs clan together. If you know the Rohlfs, you know they are a close, loving family. Keith was the one who each family member turned to during uncertain times, and he never let them down. He always provided the guidance, love and strength that was needed. He was what every dad should be. He will be dearly missed always, but his family will continue to grow and prosper because they are his family.

I have known the Rohlfs for many years. I was friends with Jill as a teenager and Coleen is now my sister-in-law. Mr. Rohlfs was always a kind gentleman. I've always thought of them as a very close knit family who look out for one another. I hope that they are comforted by the love they share and the support of family and friends. God Bless.

I have known the Rohlfs since 4th grade. Jill has always been one of my best friends. Most of memories come form our Jr/Sr. high school years and being over at the Rohlf's home. Mr Rolfs was always in his chair in the living room (by the stairs) watching tv. He was soft spoken but always said hello. I feel like Jill is a sister and want to express my sincere sympathy to the family. I also want to join them in celebrating Mr.Rohlf's life. God bless the family.

Growing up in and out of the Rohlfs home with Jill and Eric, Mr. Rohlfs was a quite, polite, simple man. After having expierenced the loss of a parent, I know that you never get over it, there will always be apart of you missing. My prayers for you all are that you keep his memories alive and that God will comfort you during this time.

Bruce and I are Coleen's in-laws. We were privileged to spend time with Keith and Linda at family gatherings starting with the beach wedding. Keith was always most congenial. Bruce remembers his visit to our Main St. house which included sports car reminiscenses (including an Austin Healy) and Jaguar project encouragment. I remember his barbecued wings!
Keeping all the family in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.

We, as Island Forest residents, have missed the Rohlfs for a while now, but we knew they were just down the road. Having Colleen in our neighborhood maintained the connection, but since she moved, the void has been plain. You were all a part of our lives and you are still missed. Please know our thoughts and prayers go with you and your family.

Growing up as his neighbor, Keith would always stop in the driveway, ask how I was, what I was doing and take a genuine interest in me. In fact, one night in high school when he caught me sneaking out of the house, he agreed not to tell my parents but only if "I promised to be safe and not drive drunk". This is a small example of why he raised a great family and will be missed. Rest in peace sir.
