Betty Kuhn Obituary

Betty V. Kuhn, 77, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at home with loved ones in Acworth after an extended illness.
She was born in Toombs County on Aug. 5, 1932, to John W. and Carrie Belle Pittman. She lived in Toombs County and then Savannah until she joined the USAF. She received the Good Conduct Medal and Soldier of the month Award for her service. She then lived in Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Thailand, Virginia, Minnesota and had moved to Acworth three years ago, living with her daughter Karla Cooper.
She worked as a dental technician in the USAF, a crypto-operator and courier for OICC in Bangkok, Thailand, a data processor for US Navy at Indian Head Md., for the U.S. Postal Service in Uvalda and she owned and operated Kuhn's General Store in Toombs County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, Lt. Col. Charles M. Kuhn USAF (ret.); sister, Ossie P. Allen, and brothers, Clifford, John "Clyde," Felton, Billy, Richard, and David Tye Pittman.
She is survived by daughters. Signe M. Anderson (Walter) of Glennville and Karla R. Cooper (Todd) of Acworth; eight grandchildren: Amber A. Oliver (Jason) of Montgomery, Ala., Wendy L. Houser (Tim), Strafford, Mo., Charles "Chuck" M. Cooper (Christine) of Auburn, Ala., Jonathan C. Cooper (Beth) of Syrmna, Tamara A. Wood (Tim) of Bartow, Fla., Billy Anderson (Tanika) of Walthourville, Bobby Anderson (Rhonda) of Hinesville and Hollis L. Hill (Sean) of Black Creek; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Nadine P. Eddinger of Lyons; brothers, Hoyt Pittman of Uvalda, Jesse (Betty) Pittman and Broadus (Joyce) Pittman, both of Lyons; brothers-in- laws, Richard Kuhn (Gloria) and Chris Kuhn (Marlene), both of Napa, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Pittman, Ruby Pittman, both of Lyons, Rita Pittman of Ootlewah, Tenn., Faye Pittman of Cordele, Carolyn K. Nelson of Napa and Margie K. Marks of Iron River, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, May 7. Family visitation and service will follow, 7-8 p.m. at The Cremation Society of the South in Marietta. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., at a later date.
