I haven't seen Bob for many years, but I always enjoyed talking with him and had a great respect for him. I was a coaching peer at another local H.S. and then recruited at Wheeling H.S. as a college coach. He was a great example for so many young people in their formative years.

Having had Coach Schulze as a football coach, gym coach, and if I am correct even drivers education teacher, I had great memories of these times.
He was a "leader" who could have fun, but never leave a doubt who was in charge. He had my complete respect.
In the last two years I have come full circle when I become a neighbor of Bob's 30 years later. And, now that I learned more about Bob, my respect for him did nothing but grow.
The world has lost a good man.
To his family; thanks for sharing him with all of us throughout the years.

Coach Schulze was a great person and coach. I was lucky to have been coached by such a wonderful person. He was infamous for that ear twist he did. I was on the receiving end quite a few times. After high school I would see him every day at the health club. It was such a joy catching up with him ever time I saw him. He changed and touched so many lives. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a peer of mine when he coached golf at Wheeling and when he played at Stonehenge. I enjoyed being with Bill sharing moments and memories. I will cherish the time I was able to spend coaching against his teams and sharing that time together at the club house.

I am sorry to hear of Coach Schulze's passing. He was tough but fair, and always a quality individual. After being assigned to his gym class my sophomore year I had my choice of gym teachers after that. I always chose Coach Schulze. He made a difference in my life. My sympathies to his family.

It was my pleasure to have been one of Mr. Schulze's next door neighbors as a young boy. It was my honor to have Coach Schulze as a coach & teacher as a young man.
He had a lot of fun and was a very honorable man's man.
My condolences to Mrs. Schulze & Family.

I had Coach Schulze as a freshman football coach in "65" and he was my kind of guy! I loved all sports and Coach would inspire me to be the best and above all be fair and have fun! I was fortunate enought to marry Grant Blaney's daugther so I would get to see Bob more often at golf outings and other sporting events and he always made my day when I saw him...big smile to go with the big heart! I will carry the torch to other kids like he did for me!

Mr. Schulze (feels strange to call him anything else), is an extremely strong lifeforce who clearly touched more lives than most people will ever get the chance to. I loved being at his home with his family. He always made me feel included and appreciated. The wonderful wife and three sons he is leaving behind are a testament to his character. I hope you can read this, Mr. Schulze, because I waited to long to tell you how much you meant to me. Add me to the long list of people who will always remember you. I love you.

To Coach Schulze’s Family and Friends,
My deepest sympathies and condolences. Even though I didn’t wrestle for Coach Schulze, he’d take the time to stop me in the halls using one of his legendary shoulder pinches or fingers to the chest to ask me how football was going, to laugh a minute or just to let me know he was watching. I know I wasn’t the only one he stopped. For many “Sarge” was one of those people you didn’t want to let down.
I hope you can take some solace in knowing that he was a positive influence on so many kids through the years. My brothers and I respected him greatly.

It appears Coach used his chest thump throughout his career, and I'm sure his ear twist and "you sodbuster", too. All of us who were fortunate to have Coach Schulze as a teacher or coach know that he was a great man who had an impact on our lives. He was, and always will be, our coach.
To Mary and the boys, thanks for sharing this special man with us, and on behalf of all of my family, our sincere condolences on your loss. May your faith, family, friends, and memories sustain you during this difficult time.
And Coach, thanks for being our coach, mentor, and friend.

I'm so sorry to hear of Coach Schulze's passing. What a great football, wrestling coach and mentor. My mom, Shirley McGinn, worked with him for 30 years at WHS and she always said that he was "one of her favorites". He was a fair man who treated his students with respect or you got the "poke in the chest" with two fingers and you knew you had it coming. He will be greatly missed. Tim McGinn WHS 1976.

Schulze Family:
Our deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of your husband and father. Bob was a positive influence on me as I began my teaching at Wheeling. I, and others, will never forget the famous "shoulder pinch" that brought us to our knees, and the friendly "finger in the chest move". Great memories of a great man.
