Richard P. Jacobs Sr.

WALTHAM Mr. Richard P. Jacobs Sr.,81, of Waltham, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Cambridge Hospital. Born in Damariscotta, Maine, Mr. Jacobs had lived in Waltham for many years. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in Framingham for 20 years until his retirement. Mr. Jacobs was a World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Jacobs was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Feltis) Jacobs, the father of the late Randall D. Jacobs, and the brother of the late Sally Blake, Gordon and Robert Jacobs. He is survived by his wife, Edith F. (Dellepigne) Jacobs; his sons, Richard P. Jacobs Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Bolton, Ronald J. Jacobs and his wife, Lisa, of Uxbridge, Reynold Joseph Jacobs of Damariscotta, Maine, and Robert W. Jacobs and his wife, Andrea,of Walpole; one daughter-in-law, Mary Jane (Anderson) Jacobs of Waltham; his brothers, Roland Jacobs of Florida and Winton, Paul, and Bradley Jacobs, all of Maine; his sisters, Mary Gilman of Virginia and Linda Simmons, Pauline Dalton, and Patricia Hagar, all of Maine; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service Saturday, July 12, at 1 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., (Rte. 20), Waltham.
