Frederick J. Dowcett

WALTHAM Mr. Frederick J. Dowcett, 62, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late William F. and Elizabeth A. (Devane) Dowcett, Fred worked for over 15 years as a wire inspector for the city of Waltham. Fred was a member of the Waltham Sons of Italy, an avid spots fan, enjoyed all kinds of music and loved being around his children and grandchildren. Fred served with the United States Army. Fred was the father of the late Michael A. Dowcett. Fred leaves his wife Lorraine P. (Cormier) Dowcett; his children, Joseph F. Dowcett and his wife, Kimberly, and Kathleen A. Dowcett, all of Waltham, Patricia A. Dowcett and her husband, Bryan Bettencourt, of Cheshire, Conn.; four sisters, Mary Burke and her husband, Robert Calabufalo, of Brockton, Ann Bamforth and her husband, John, Patricia Quigley and her husband, Patrick, all of Delaware, and Ellen Jones and her husband, Peter, of Marlborough; his grandchildren, Dylan, Alexa, Derek, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 8 a.m. from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., ( Rte.20), Waltham, followed by a funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 133 School St., Waltham, at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Katherine Devane Scholarship Fund, Attn.
