Rodolfo DiGiambattista Obituary

Rodolfo DiGiambattista WALTHAM Rodolfo DiGiambattista, of Waltham, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2008, at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, after courageous fight with cancer for over two years. He was 78. The son of the late Nicola and Maria (Fedele) DiGiambattista, he was born in Italy, and had served with the Italian Army. He moved to Venezuela in 1960 to start his family, and after much saving and sacrifice, he and his family were able to immigrate to the United Stated in 1975, and he became a citizen of the land he loved. He first settled in Newton, where he resided for over 10 years, and then moved to Waltham. Mr. DiGiambattista had been employed for over 30 years as a chef at the Marriott Hotel in Newton. A great cook and hard worker, he would go out of his way to help others in any fashion. Mr. DiGiambattista is survived by his daughter, Monica and her husband, Jimmy Clark, of Mississippi; his sons, Eros DiGiambattista of Waltham, Valerio and his wife, Nicole DiGiambattista, of Lynn, and Aldolfo and his wife, Gina DiGiambattista, of Waltham; his sisters, Flora and her husband, Valentino Pelaccia, of Italy, and Fernanda and her husband, Alfio DeThomasis, of Newton; his brother, Gabriele DiGiambattista of Italy; his grandchildren, Francesca and Brendan Clark, Josephina, Demetrius and Joshua DiGiambattista, and Giselle DiGiambattista; his wife, Maria Barrios DiGiambattista of Waltham; his nieces, Lisa and her husband, Orlando Santiago, of Newton and Wanda and her husband, Mauro, and Elena and her husband, Marco, both of Italy; his nephews, Enzo DeThomasis of Waltham, Anthony DeThomasis of Newton, and Tiziano and his wife, Lorella, of Italy; his dear aunts, Mariannina DiGiambattista of Italy, and Teresa DiPierdomenico, and her family, of New Jersey, and his dear friend Carmen Ballesteros, of Waltham. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews in New Jersey, Italy and throughout, as well as his beloved, extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 9 a.m., from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Saint Marys Church, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Chapel Mausoleum in Waltham. Relatives and friend are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
