James "Jimmy" Wilbert Shifflett

James "Jimmy" Wilbert Shifflett, 58, of Stanardsville passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital after a long term illness.

He was born August 25, 1949, in Charlottesville to the late James Wilbert Shifflett Sr. and Mary Ann Morris Hughes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn J. Harlow.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Tara Barrett Shifflett; one son, James R. Shifflett of Ruckersville; two daughters, Mary Ann Shifflett of Ruckersville and Dawn Marie Shifflett of Charlottesville; two sisters, Janice Morris of Stanardsville and Joyce Morris of Crozet; one granddaughter, Anneke Jayne Raines; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends including special friend, Mike May and Jimmy's cat and constant companion, "Bob."

Jimmy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed classic cars, Greene County and Willie Nelson. Jimmy's personal relationship with the Lord, helped him through his walk here on Earth. He will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Ryan Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at the Ryan Funeral Home with Adam Gragg and Ralph Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Lydia Community Cemetery.

Tara, Dawn Marie, Jim & Mary Ann,

I will miss Uncle Jimmy very much. He had a special place in my Heart and I loved him very much. I know he is in a better place with no more pain. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, I hope you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Jimmy was always more than willing to give me a hand at work. He had an unique sense of humor and was able to make me laugh even when I was having a bad day. I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
