Larry Pugh Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Aug. 20, 2008.
Larry "Mike" Pugh

Larry Michael "Mike" Pugh, 48, of Charlottesville passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2008, from complications due to recent aortic aneurysm.

Mike was born June 20, 1960, the son of the late Randolph E. Pugh Sr. and Elizabeth Anne Rea Pugh.

Mike is survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Christen Anne Pugh of Charlottesville; Christen's mother, Linda P. Moore, his wife for 21 years; devoted friends, Eddie Moore and Judy Rafaly; one brother, Randolph E. Pugh and family; one half-brother, Brian Pugh, of Charlottesville; one step-sister, Brenda Bishop, and family; and many extended friends and family.

Mike is now resting with his beloved brother, Gary Wayne Pugh, who passed away May 5, 2007.

Mike wore many hats, quite literally, throughout his life. His proudest accomplishment was being a father, and he was the very best!

The family would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses, and people who have helped him through some of his most difficult days. Your strength gave his strength. We ask for your continued thoughts and prayers as our family grieves this too sudden loss.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home with the Reverend Sidney Craig officiating.

The family suggests that any desired memorial contri-butions be made to the daughter, Christen Pugh, P.O. Box 6293, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Christen,
We have not spoken in so long. I just heard the news today and immediately wanted to say that I'm sorry and am here for you. I am still in shock. My mom and I want you to know that we have always loved you and we think and speak of you often. I have missed you and am incredibly sorry for your loss. Your dad adored you and was always so kind to me. I will always remember him happy and jolly!! You and your parents helped me through rough times and I will never forget that!
I wish I were there to hug you!!!

After reading some of the posts here, it is very comforting to know that Mike had so many friends who cared and loved him.

I thought I'd share one of my favorite pictures: A picture of the three brothers (Me, Gary, and Mike) together under much happier times.

Take a look; I hope it brings as much comfort to you as it does me.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Mike was avery good friend to my son and my family Mike. He will be deeply miss. I always seen him at my house all the time or going down the road. Eddie and Mike and Judy reminded me of the Three Musketeer. And Our family had a great time in Fla. last year when we all went to fla.and Mike followed behind us.

I will be thinking about Mike's family at this time of sorrow

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived
okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here
is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up
and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were
gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for
me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's
chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life
on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not
be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But
one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a
time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will
give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day
was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the
way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick
him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in
your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember
you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
