Margaret Shiflett Obituary
Margaret Mae Shiflett, 72, of Palmyra passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008.
Born on June 1, 1936, in Albemarle County, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Walter Lee Shiflett, and a brother, Jimmy Bishop.
She is survived by her children, Edy Bug Shiflett of Scottsville, Walter Shiflett of Palmyra, David Shiflett of Palmyra, Jay Shiflett of Ruckersville, Ginny Layne of Palmyra, Betty Jean Taylor of Charlottesville, and Bruce Shiflett of Orange; 13 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray Bishop of Charlottesville and Mack Bishop of Palmyra.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Hill and Wood Chapel with Pastor Johnny Hartless officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the funeral home.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Owens and Dr. Dandridge and their staffs, the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue, and to her caretaker and friend, Jennifer Schlegel.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue, 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963.

God Bless You, Aunt Margaret. Give a hug to Uncle Walter. I know you're at peace now and that's all that really matters. I'll always remember your milk gravy and ho cakes. P.S. to my sister, Mary - God will remember you for all you did for Aunt Margaret. She looked forward to your visits to wash and set her hair, pick up the house, bring her favorite chicken and macaroni salad and just being there when she was all alone.
