Lindsay K. Johnson

Lindsay Kenneth Johnson, 81, of Boyd Tavern, died Monday, September 7, 2009, after a 4 month battle with cancer and its treatments.

Born in Scottsville, August 7, 1928, he was the son of the late Samuel Lee Johnson and Lula Carroll Johnson Lynch.

He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Ackerberry Lynch; daughter, Nancy Lee Johnson; brothers, Robert Lee Johnson Sr. and Douglas Fairbanks Johnson; and his sister, Helen F. Johnson.

He was a retired self-employed contractor painter of 35 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy L. Johnson of Boyd Tavern; grandson, Kenneth "Kenny" L. Mawyer; sister-in-law, Martha Johnson of Scottsville; nieces, Ann Whitbey and her husband, Bobby, Brenda Loser and her husband, Claude, Judy Johnson and her husband, Ike, all of Scottsville, Sue Mawyer and her friend, Michael Scott, of Charlottesville, and Barbara Vansant of Richmond; nephew, Robert Lee Johnson Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Scottsville; great-nieces and nephews; as well as several great-great-nieces and nephews.

He lived in the Boyd Tavern area for over 60 years, and enjoyed visiting at the Boyd Tavern market until entering the hospital in May.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2009, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville.
