Isabelle Pool Kines

Isabelle P. Kines, 87, passed away peacefully into God's caring hands on Friday, September 18, 2009, after a life full of love for family and friends.

She was born August 23, 1922, in Stanley, Virginia, the daughter of the late Flournoy P. and Emma Duis Pool, and the wife of the late Kenneth Black Kines. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mrs. Kines is survived by her son, K. Michael Kines and his wife, Jennifer Bivens Kines, and their daughter, Kathleen M. Kines; and her daughter, Alice K. Conroy and her husband, Dennis T. Conroy, their daughter, Heather M. Conroy and their son, Sean T. Conroy.

Mrs. Kines and her husband were long-time residents of Richmond, Virginia, where they were active in the St. Giles Presbyterian Church. At the conclusion of Mrs. Kines' career as an accountant for RobertShaw Controls, she and her husband enjoyed an active retirement in Tucson, Arizona, where they developed a large circle of friends and extensively toured the West. During that time, Mrs. Kines developed a special interest in American Indian cultures. After Mr. Kines' demise, Mrs. Kines pursued a life-long desire to travel abroad, with trips to Machu Pichu, the pyramids of Egypt, boating down the Amazon River, Spain, and China.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Diane Snustad, Hospice of the Piedmont and the staff of Our Lady of Peace for their compassionate care. There will be a private family memorial service in Stanley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
