Archie Benjamin Davis

Archie Benjamin Davis, 72, of Aroda, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born July 14, 1937 in Madison County, the son of the late Wade H. Davis Sr. and Irene Mallory Davis. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah L. Clark; two brothers, Thomas J. Davis and Wade Davis Jr.; a sister, Hazel Davis; and a brother-in-law, Wallace Shifflett.

He was a retired supervisor for American Woodmark in Orange.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. Davis of Aroda; his son, Kenneth W. Davis and his wife, Carol, of Aroda; four brothers, Billie Davis and his wife, Joyce, of Orange, Shirley Davis and his wife, Dot, of Stanardsville, Earl Davis and his wife, Frances, of Orange, Herbert Davis and his wife, Eileen, of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Mary Shifflett of Aroda and Marjorie Foster and husband, Marshall, of Pratts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment at Madison Memorial Gardens conducted by Dr. Tommy Palmer.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the funeral home.
