Philip "Pete" Daniel Campbell went to rest in peace on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
He was born April 1, 1964. Pete was preceded in death by his father, James "Dan" Daniel Campbell.
He is survived by his mother, Betsy Kingrea; step-father, Russell Burnley; four loving sisters, Anita Spencer and her husband, Wilton, of Palmyra, Judy Tillman and her husband, David, of Fork Union, Carolyn Martin and her husband, Wesley, of Charlottesville, Lila Shifflett and her husband, Tony, of Crozet; nieces and nephews, Brandon Via, Jason Goode, Melissa Taylor, Amanda Sipe, Jessica Shifflett, David Gordon Tillman.
He will be missed and always loved by his family and special friends, Kathy Frazier, Sandy and Kelly Mills and family.
Pete was a member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed being a D.J. and karaoke.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, at Holly Memorial Gardens, with the Reverend Sidney Craig officiating.

My Dearest Pete: It has been a year already that you was so full of life, always smiling, and carefree, Life loved you being a part of it , and I loved you being a part of me for 26 1/2 years. You could make anyone laugh even if they were having a bad day. Nothing could every stop you. You was always ready to take on the world. But God decided he needed you. So from this world you left, but you took a big part of me. I know you are in heaven watching over me.

There's not a day that goes by that I dont think about you. I just want to pick up the phone and call you to just hear your voice and your laugh. I never in a thousand years thought that this would happen. I miss talking to you about anything! My heart is broken and the tears still fall down like rain. I just wish that you were still here, cause this crazy place that we call Life will never be the same without you. Your smiles could brighten a whole room just by your presence. I feel like this is all just a bad dream and when I awake you will still be here. I pray that it would be true. It's so hard for my heart and soul and mind to actually believe that you have left this earthly world and taken your place in heaven. Some people you just always imagine being around until they're old and gray and then God calls for them. That's how I always imagined you. To me, you were "Peter" but when I spoke of you, you were my "Uncle Pete"! You've been a part of my life since I can remember. As a little girl you use to pick on me so bad and call me "ornery" but as I got older, I could return the favor and learned how to pick back! LOL! Many days or months could go by but whenever I seen you, you would grab me by the neck and say "Hey Fox" :-) I'll never forget the day when momma was at the hospital the last time, you seen that I had, had enough, and you said "Hey Fox, Come ride with me!" You are one of the ones that understood ME and never judged ME! I'll never forget your jokes, your laugh but mostly your smile! I will forever Love & Miss You!
