Erla Piccini Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 14, 2025.
Erla Belle Piccini (McMaster), 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Earlysville, Virginia, on December 13, 2025, surrounded by people who loved her. Born to Murray Everton McMaster and Luella Belle Hansen, Erla lived a long life defined by devotion, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. She was married to the love of her life, John Piccini, with whom she shared a life rooted in loyalty, partnership, and deep affection.

Erla was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on August 7th of 1930 and moved to the United States when her daughters were teenagers. She spent the last years of her life in the Blue Ridge Mountains enjoying views of the sunsets and wildlife of Virginia with her husband and son-in-law, Dr. Mark H. Stoler. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Roma Piccini, who was by her side at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Paula Maria Stoler, who passed away five years earlier, two great-grandsons Liron Ezra Holtz and Ruven Tzvi Holtz, as well as her cherished siblings Everton McMaster, Clair McMaster, Donald McMaster, and Meryl Saunders. Erla is survived by her husband John Piccini; her daughter Roma Piccini; her son-in-law Dr. Mark H. Stoler; her granddaughters Leah Elizabeth Baker and her husband Jordan Baker, and Abby Stoler Holtz and her wife Sami Holtz; and her treasured great-grandchildren Mason Baker, Ethan Baker, and Paxton Holtz. She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews.

Erla was known best for how well she loved her family. Always working quietly behind the scenes, she devoted her life to caring for her people with steadiness and grace. She was stoic yet kind-hearted, soft-spoken yet wonderfully witty, and her laughter was a joy to behold. She took immense pride in being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, roles she cherished deeply and carried with great seriousness and tenderness. Every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew, without question, that they were profoundly loved. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured so faithfully and the love she gave so freely.

A graveside family service and funeral will be held at 2pm Monday Dec 15, at the Hebrew Cemetery, 740 1st St. South, Charlottesville, VA.

In lieu of any gifts or flowers, the family suggests a donation to Congregation Beth Israel's Forest School, one's favorite charity or Hospice of the Piedmont.
