Hymen Fitelson Obituary
Tamarac, FL: May 31, 2008, at age 97. Beloved and cherished husband of Ceal for 63 years and devoted father of Dr. Sharon L. Fitelson (Constance Petzall) and the late Neil Robert Fitelson.
Hy Fitelson was born in Bergen, NY, and from a tender young age helped his father in their poultry and egg business. He moved to Rochester with his family and then, always the hard worker, put himself through the Wharton School of Finance during the depression era and graduated in 1934. In 1938 he started Fitch Furniture on Joseph Ave. and since then had been known as Hy Fitch and or "Fitch".
His furniture business flourished even while he served in the Army during the war from 1943 until 1946. His warmth and generosity are well known throughout Rochester and to this day people still remember him. Hy had a wonderful personality, loving life and always cracking jokes. His sunny disposition and unshakable optimism enabled him to live a very long and wonderful life.
Funeral Services were held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
