Olga Colon Obituary
Puerto Rico/Rochester: August 23, 2008. Predeceased by her parents, Leocadia and Dionisio Rivera; sister, Carmen Rivera. Mrs Colon is survived by her husband, Candido; 7 children, Orlando, Carmen (Peter), Annette, Ivis, Betsy, Richard and William; 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Mitchell, Matthew, Sarah, Brendan, Bailey, Susan and Maria; 2 brothers, Rafael & William Marrero; many nieces & nephews.
Her family will receive friends Monday 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Friends are invited to meet the family Tuesday 10:30 AM at St. Michael's Church for her Funeral Mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Although it's been years since "The Colon's" left Sodus. Olga's welcoming smile and big heart has never been and never will be forgotten. Olga and Candy were the true reflection of good decent neighbors and family friends.
We still talk about Olga's "mystery" spice recipe we added to our rice dishes. Every so often, on our way out the door, Olga would hand us a small glass jar of mixed spices, just one small example of her thoughtfulness. She probably didn't realize how famous that little jar was in our household, if she did know, she was humble about it.
I remember her sweet laugh, warm hugs, her genuine patience and open mindedness. When I first met Olga in Sodus, living in the country, there weren't (and still aren't) too many neighbors. To have Olga be one to open her door to us, her neighbors, is an example we should all live by.
I'm terribly sorry to hear about such tragedy, but surely bits of Olga will live on in all those who have crossed paths with her, who's lives she has touched. Take care, my thoughts are with you.

To the Colon Family:
There are no words that we can say to heal your pain, but our prayers go out to Olga and your family. I know my parents (Puqui & Carmen Rosa) are sad and heartbroken for not being able to here, but they have you all in their mind and will continue to pray for everyone. We just suffered the lost of my aunt by my dad's side, which is why they were out of town and we understand the pain you all are enduring.

May God bless you and be with you as you face this time of sorrow and may He give you hope and strength to meet each new tomorrow. Olga was a very sweet and kind person and I know she is with our Lord. I am Puqui and Carmen daughter and I remember many times when we went to visit for group prayers.
My parents were sadden to hear of the news. Our thought our with you and the whole family. De colors Olga.

I just heard about your Mom and I'm so sorry. I only met her a couple of times, but it was very apparent where you get your care for other people, your love of life, and your infectous smile. Our thougthts and prayers will be with her at St Pauls this weekend.

Dear Annette & family - I am sorry for your loss. I was very sad to hear about your mom. No words can ever convey what we feel and want to say. We just lost my grandmother this morning, and I know all too well the pain. But with family and love, it can comfort us.
This is something I read at my father's service a few years ago. This poem has brought me alot of comfort, and I hope in time can bring you some.
"Your journey has been long, and now must end. Your life has been full and rich with love. Your friends have been many, and warm and kind; enriched by the example you've left behind. To Olga's Family,
Olga was the best friend I had when I had so little of family and friends. We prayed together weekly for 5 years. We laughed and cried.She has an understanding heart. She loved all of you very much, and she spoke of you each time we'd meet. I bless you all now in her name and will keep all of you and especially Olga in my heart always.
