Robert Thompson Obituary
Henrietta: August 22, 2008 at age 67. Survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Tina; children, Rebecca (Matthew Van Vessem) Thompson, Jeffrey Thompson; grandchildren; Joshua, Grace & John; brother, Richard (Jean) Thompson; nieces, nephews & cousins. Bob retired from BOCES #2 in 1996, but continued working as an interim superintendent for various local school districts. His volunteer efforts included assisting with Section V basketball, local LPGA and PGA tournaments and the Rush Henrietta Alumni Council.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Road S.). Bob's Memorial Service will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Henrietta United Church of Christ (1400 Lehigh Station Rd.) Interment, private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rush-Henrietta Education Foundation or Monroe #2 Orleans Educational Foundation in his memory. Dear Tina,
Ron and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time. I regret that when we met at the bank yesterday I had not yet heard about Bob's passing, or I would have personally extended our condolences.

I offer my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. I didn't realize who Bob Thompson was until I saw the Henrietta Post. I've seen him around RH (especially basketball games) for a number of years, always smiling, energetic and helpful.

Dear Tina,
Bob brought his love of life and his great sense of humor to everything he did! He was a fine educator who worked hard to make sure youngsters had the opportunities they deserved. My deeest sympathies to the Thompson family. Although I did not know Bob very well, as a friend of Rebecca's I feel like I did. He has a wonderful daughter who is great mother, teacher and friend and three beautiful grandchildren - all of whom are a testament to Bob. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Bob's sudden passing. Be assured of my prayers for you and your family as you deal with losing such a wonderful man.
During our years together on the NYSALB board, one of the greatest joys was spending time with you and Bob during our Friday dinners.

Dear Tina, Becky and Jeff, I am going to miss Bobby so much. There are so many memories that I can't count them on my fingers and toes. I can't tell you how much he meant to me. My sincere sympathies to Bob's family. I first met him when he worked with Dr. Joe Marinelli for our school's superintendent search. Over the years, we had often run into each other at various events where we took the opportunity to share stories and reminiscences of days past---such as our early days as young English teachers. Later, my daughter---as a student teacher---had the privilege of meeting this kind, gentle man when he was the Interim Superintendent at Romulus CSD. She, too, was immediately drawn to him by his warm, friendly conversation and his sincere interest in her as a beginning teacher. We will miss Bob very much; our prayers are with you all.
