Charles Lana Obituary
(Simms, Zukaitis)
Rochester, NY: On August 31, 2008, at the age of 92. Sgt. Charles J. Lana served his country in the US Army during World War II. Awarded the Bronze medal for his courageous service at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. Even though tormented by the emotional scars of war, he was a dedicated father and husband. Retired from the US Post office at 30 years of service. Finally, he has the peace he deserved in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Predeceased by his wife, Anna (Palermo) Lana; survived by his children Rosalie (Matthew) Zukaitis, Gary (Brenda) Lana, and Ada (Carl) Simms; grandchildren, Simone Simms, Kyle Lana, Travis Lana, Teri Geisler-Zukaitis, Tina Zukaitis; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Chloe Zukaitis; sisters-in-law, Josephine Palermo and Beanie Lana; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. South), on Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Charles' Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Interfaith Chapel at Miller Funeral Homes on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Battle of the Bulge Genesee Valley Chapter LVII, 147 Landing Park, Rochester, NY 14625 or Livingston County Hospice, 2 Murray Hill Dr., Mt. Morris, NY 14510. though i am not related to uncle charlie by blood. i will miss him so much.he was always up on currant events and history too.he was always apart of my daily conversations with family and friends even though most never met him.when ever you needed a great example of courage or just a stand up guy, charlie was the guy who fit the bill. i will miss him, but he will live on in my memories.i always looked up to him,now with the true sents of the word.now he is truly at peace.Clarence Hassfurter jr.
