Gates: September 3, 2008, age 83. Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria (Gina) Messina; children, Josephine (Michael) Tantalo, Frank (JoAnn) Messina, Toni (Anthony) Caterino, Michael (Sandra) Messina; 8 grandchildren, Tricia, Larry (Tina) Tantalo, Melissa, Daniel (Raelynn Testani), Kristen Messina, Christopher and Laura Caterino, Monica Messina; 2 great-granddaughters, Gianna and Bianca Tantalo; 2 sisters, Rita Messina and Anna (Nino) Scola; brother, Mario (Concettina) Messina; sisters-in-law, Rosa Messina, Mirella Caputo (Scott Lewis) and brother-in-law, Frank (Mary) Mannarino; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday 3-6 PM at Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd. (Between English and Latta). Funeral Mass 9:30 Monday at St. Theodore's Church. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Grandpa, I love you more than you will ever know. I miss you so much, but I want you to know that our family is so strong. Its all because of you. We miss you so very much. I wish you could have met Ryan. He would have loved you! And you would have loved him too. Thank you for everything you have given me. I love you so much.

This has been a truly hard time for me, but when i sit back and think about all you have done for me, and our family I cant help but smile. You were like another father to me and I will always do my best to live my life as well as you did. We will all miss you more than you will ever know! And I am so thankful that Gianna, and Bianca had the opportunity to spend time with you, it’s an experience that will have forever. I Love you gramp! Thank you
