Sodus: Abe passed away from surgical complications on Thursday, October 9, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sodus on November 10, 1943, to Abraham and Katherine (Boyington) DeNeef. A graduate of the Lyons Central School, Abe retired in 1998 as Business Agent from Union Local 1163, Millwright, Pile Drivers and Divers.
Abe is survived by his wife Bonnie (Barcomb) DeNeef; son James (Rebecca) DeNeef; daughter Jacqueline (Scott) Hironimus; step-daughters, Robin Reynolds of North Tonawanda and Teri Reynolds of Clarksville, TN; grand-daughters, Courtney DeNeef, Kaitlynn DeNeef and Sydney DeNeef; great-grandson Stephen; sisters, Beverly (Larry) Van Lare of North Rose, Doris Dopp of Wolcott, Gladys (Howard) Garrett of Clyde and Frances (John) Foss of Sodus Center; mother-in-law, Ethel Barcomb of Wolcott; sister-in-law, Sherry (Thomas) Clines and sons, of Woodbridge, VA; several nieces, nephews and special friends; his beloved yellow lab, Morgan. Abe was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Francella in 1995, and by son Stephen in 2004.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the NORTON FUNERAL HOME, 45 West Main Street, Sodus. His funeral will be held Wednesday morning, 10 a.m. from the funeral home, interment will be at the Sodus Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Abe may be directed to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, NY 14489; or directed to a charity of one's choice.
