Joseph Delforte Obituary
Canandaigua: Oct 18, 2008, age 74. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Delforte; 5 children, Joseph (Melissa) Delforte of Canandaigua, Julie Rocco of Penfield, Lisa (Chris) Leverett of Fairport, Paul (Erin) Delforte of Victor, David (Amy) Delforte of Canandaigua; daughter-in-law, Deena Delforte-Ziegler of MA; sister, Josephine Delforte of Canandaigua; 3 brothers, Nick (Bernice) Delforte of Shortsville, Jim (MaryAnn) Delforte, Sam (Debbie) Delforte both of Canandaigua; brother-in-law, Nick Como of Canandaigua; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Delforte in 2002 and his sister, Mary Como in 2006.
Friends may call tomorrow (Monday) from 3-7 PM at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Entombment will be in White Haven Memorial Park, Perinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, Canandaigua, NY 14424 or Wood Library, 134 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.

As a student at St. Bonaventure, the Delforte's made me and my college brothers feel at home whenever we visited. We truly looked forward to our road trips to Canandaigua. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Joe will be missed.

When my dad (Dr Winthrop) was in the hospital dying of cancer, Joe Delforte came and washed his hair and gave him a haircut. It made my dad feel better and was a wonderful gesture my family never forgot.

Joe touched the lives of so many Rotary youth exchange students. I'm not sure when his youth exchange career began, because he had already been on the committee for some time when I was interviewed in 1994. He will be greatly missed by all of us on the district youth exchange committee.

Dear Delforte Family,
Mr. Delforte gave me a wonderful opportunity to be an Exchange Student and without his help and support I never would have been able to experience the things I did in his beloved Italy. Dear Delforte Family,
Since I met David and your family 20 some years ago, I've always felt like extended family. Joe was great a bringing people together and he will be sadly missed. His legacy is in the people he touched and the wonderful family that he and Ann built together.
I find comfort in thinking that I can always be close to Joe through his family since there is so much of him in you.
I wish I could be there at this time to share your tears, but also the laughs as you reflect on his life and the fun and love that was always a part of being around him.

Delforte family - Joe's passing touches all of the Bonaventure family and saddens us as if we were loosing our own dad. Your mom and dad made Candaigua a home away from home for all of us on Third Rob. Dear Anne and Family,
There is no question that entire community deeply will miss Joe. He was a friend to so many and a joy to be around.
For me personally, making hot peppers each fall will never be the same, but it will certainly remind me of him each and every time we enjoy some in the future.

Goodbye Joe, we will miss you so much. It is always been a pleasure talking with you and keeping in touch with you even after my exchange student year, me and my family always remember the great times together either in the US or in Italy, we miss those times.

I am very sorry Mr. Delforte passed the way. He was a wonderful man and did a great job for the Rotary International Exchange Program. Especially for my country, Sardinia, Italy through his friend Mr. Di Martino. I am here in Canandaigua now and I am enjoying this really wonderful year, because of Joe Delforte.
