Rochester: October 28, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne Miller Picone; 7 children, Christine Cathcart of AZ, Mark (Tracy) Picone of TX, James Gregory (Risa) Picone of CA, Matthew (Eithne) Picone of Syracuse, Ann (Michael) Schrader of CA, John (Mary Beth) Picone of Rochester, Mary Beth Picone of CA; 13 grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, & cousins. Jim was a WWII Army Veteran & the retired proprietor of the IGA Grocery Store on Atlantic Avenue.
The family will receive friends to share memories THURSDAY (10/30) from 4-7 PM at CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME (495 N. Winton Rd., between Browncroft & Humboldt). Memorial Mass FRIDAY 9 AM at Peace of Christ Parish at St. John The Evangelist Church (549 Humboldt St.). Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. For those wishing, please consider honoring Jim with a donation to RGH Dialysis Patient Fund (c/o 370 East Ridge Rd., 14621) or the Memorial Fund of Peace of Christ Parish (25 Empire Blvd., 14609). Jeanne, I am so sorry to learn of Jim's passing. He was a graious host at dialysis parties; I recall the pig roast especially. May the love of friends and family support you at this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Picone family. “Golden Bear” was like a second father to all of us who grew up around the Picone house. Thinking back to those times makes me laugh. He was quite the character with a wonderful sense of humor, and a compassionate and loving husband and father. We are all better for having known him, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to share part of my life with him and his entire family. Goodbye “GB”, and may you always rest in peace.
