Robert Nielsen Obituary
Owasso, OK: Age 73, of 12824 E. Azalea Lane, Owasso, OK 74055, formerly of Penn Yan, NY, passed away at his home on Oct. 26, 2008. Robert was born Feb. 10, 1935 in Geneva, NY to Henry and Olga Nielsen.
A memorial service will be held at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan, on Nov. 15, 2008 at 1:00 pm with interment in Lakeview Cemetery following the service. A luncheon will be held, following the service, at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge, 133 Main St., Penn Yan for family and friends.
He was a pipefitter/welder by trade and retired from General Motors in 1997. He held memberships in the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #73 and the United Auto Workers #1097. Fraternal organizations included the F&AM Seneca Lake Lodge 308, Penn Yan Elks Lodge 1722 and the Loyal Order of the Moose 2030.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, 1216 Rt. 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527, or the Owasso Fire Department/EMS, 8901 N. Garnett Rd., Owasso, OK 74055.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Tongate Nielsen; son, Mark (Mary) Nielsen of Owasso, OK; daughter, Kerry Bowman of Fayetteville, NC; grandsons, Bradley and Scott Bowman of Sanford, NC; brother, Morris Nielsen of Penn Yan; sister-in-law, Beatrice Ulawski of Glendale, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Willard in 1952, and sister, Virginia White in 1992.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso, OK, (918) 272-6244.
