William Tobin Obituary

Tobin, William V.(Bill) III
Port Charlotte, FL: 59, died on September 4, 2007, at home after a long illness. Bill was born February 24, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA, and grew up in Oswego and Penfield, NY. He joined the Army in 1966 and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a graduate of the University of South Florida with his Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling.
Bill found his true calling after he found sobriety in 1986, at which time he achieved his Masters Degree. He worked as a therapist in many facilities in Southwest Florida. In 2002, he started in private practice at Harbor Counseling and he ended his career at Cove Counseling in Port Charlotte. There are many in the area who have had their lives impacted by Bill's life experiences and compassion.
Bill was an avid sports fan. He loved to golf, watch boxing and horseracing, play board games, blackjack and cards. He had a great sense of humor and loved music and discovering new groups. Bill was known for his love of MG's, and it was not unusual to find his head under the hood.
Bill is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 years, Sherry (Sherret), his brother Patrick (Lynne) Tobin of Rochester, NY, his sister Alice (Charlie) Janosik of Duanesburg, NY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. And of course, his faithful companion Ripley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: The Depaul Group, 1931 Buffalo Road, Rochester, NY 14624. On September 22, 2007, there will be a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery 1975 Baird Rd., Penfield, NY, followed by a celebration and remembrance at 1:00pm to 3:00pm at The Clark House Tavern at Shadow Pines, 600 Whalen Rd., Penfield, NY.
