Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Mar. 27, 2026.
Eleanor Richane Stauffer of Fairport, NY passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2026.

Born in Rochester, NY on July 16, 1942, she was a dedicated mother, wife, professional, and friend. She was known for her humor, spirit, and deep love for those in her life. Her professional career was wide-ranging, and she shared her talents in the classroom, at the Women's Career Center, NTID, Frontier, and beyond. Her volunteer and civic efforts were many and varied. Most notably, her devoted work as a docent at the Memorial Art Gallery highlighted her dedication to the arts and life-long learning, which she especially enjoyed sharing with children. She loved reading, bridge, tennis, the theater, and the RPO.

She was predeceased by her brother, Kamal Richane, her beloved husband of 29 years, James Stauffer, and her mother, Atfah Richane. She is survived by her siblings, Carl Richane (Laurie), Elaine Richane, and Bob Richane (Susan); her cherished nieces and nephews; her children, Eyrich Stauffer (Sian Foulkes) and Lenore McPherson (Kevin); her grandchildren, Jamie, Troy, Samantha, Kathryn and Calvin; and the many friends she loved, supported, and leaned on.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 11th at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, 220 South Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14610, with a reception to follow.
