Robert Power Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Mar. 20, 2026.
Robert Power died peacefully on March 9, 2026 at the age of 104.

Robert was raised on a dairy farm in Farmington, NY with his two older brothers. He went off to Dartmouth College in 1939. When the war started, he was able to attend a summer semester and finished his undergraduate degree early. It was this same time that he met his future wife, Betty Purvis, on a blind date. By late '42 he enlisted in the Army. Once his training was completed it was off to the European Theater as part of the Army Signal Corps.

After the war, it was back to school to finish his MBA. He and Betty were married in 1946. Their long and happy marriage lasted 75 years until the Lord took her in 2021. Along the way they raised two children, and were grandparents to two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Robert worked for 36 years for Eastman Kodak Company in various positions. He loved staying active running, playing golf, tennis, and table tennis, including managing the Kodak Table Tennis team. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends most of all. We will miss you dearly, Dad.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 75 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Purvis) Power; parents, Frank and Alice (Cole) Power; siblings, George (Helen) Power, Frank "Peter" (Helen) Power, infant sister Ruth Power. Survived by his children, Bruce (Karen) Power, Christine Power; granddaughters, Sarah (Nathan) Metcalf, Rebekah Power; great-grandsons, Derek Metcalf, Owen Metcalf; many loved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on April 14, 2026 at Anthony's Funeral Home, with visitation from 10-11 am and service at 11. Interment at South Farmington Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Robert's name to Humane Society of Greater Rochester (lollypop.org.)
