Ralph E. Haggas

Ralph Haggas passed away on March 8 quietly in his sleep after a long illness. He retired with over 40 years in the landscaping, facilities maintenance and hardware service businesses including 22 years with Eastman Kodak Company. For most of his life he enjoyed being on the waters of the Finger Lakes, boating, sailing and fishing and in restoring classic wooden boats. He had a keen eye for design and was extremely creative at home remodeling. His passion for backgammon was well known and he always had a board nearby.

Ralph was born March 23, 1949, to Albert "Bob" and Beatrice Haggas of Shoreham Drive in Pittsford, NY. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from North Carolina State with a degree in Forestry. It was there that he gained a lifelong interest in college basketball and faithfully followed the Wolf Pack.

Later in life he settled in Lima, NY. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Karen Scott Haggas, his sister Cindy, brothers Lee and Kent, his stepdaughter Jennifer Baker and stepson Jeffrey Atwood, his two adult daughters, from a previous marriage and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private with no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Lima Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 7024 W Main Rd, Lima, NY 14485.
