Susan Haggas Obituary

Susan A. Haggas of Rome, passed away on December 11, 2023, at the age of 72, with friends and family by her side, after a brief battle with Leukemia.

Susan was born in Rome on May 11, 1951 to the late Mary and Edward Murray, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1969. She earned her nursing degree while working during the day and attending classes at night. She worked at various nursing homes in the area, and retired from the Central New York DDSO in Rome. Her compassion and desire to always help others was her greatest strength and she was known as "the life" of many parties.

Susan is survived by her children, Jeremy (Michelle) Haggas of Marcy, and Corinne Haggas of Rome; grandchildren, Samantha and Griffin; sister, Mary Murray; and a niece, Morriah Baldauf. She was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Marcus.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

She was and always will be my loving and caring aunt along with her sisters. Very fun and adventurous and always made sure her nieces and nephews had a great time even though she had to break a few "rules of my parents " to do so! I will miss her with all my heart!
