Ionly spoke to you on the phone twice, the last time was just before you left the Hospital; 2 days before you died. The acceptance of your illness and your resignation to God's will was remarkable. It will stay with me ALWAYS. God rest your gentle soul.

It brought great sadness to hear of Philip's passing - far too soon and far to quickly. He brought life and happiness to all. He will be greatly missed, but long remembered.

There are no words to describe the sadness and grief I am feeling at the loss of my dear friend, Phil. So many times we shared meals, visits to my home, visits to Dennis and Phil's incredible home, meals at Brimfield, letting me stay with them at Brimfield. To say that Brimfield will never be the same is such an understatement. Phil always showed so much interest in what I am doing, was always so eager to discover new trends,a new angle. He was always the healthy eater, the runner among us. It all seems so unfair. My heart goes out to Dennis, to suffer such a profound loss. My sister passed away the same week from cancer. I hope Phil gives her the same warmth of spirit and joy that he gave to all of us.

I knew Phil R.I.P. seven years coming to the guest house and immediately I saw a kind gentle sweet and loving man whom I am privilaged to call our friend as he was with my family. We were so saddened with the news of Phil's illness and God Bless Dennis for letting us know. We called him just a week before his passing to speak with him. Phil, R.I.P. was so upbeat and speaking about coming to visit etc - so brave. Then he spoke with my 17 year old daughter for 15 minutes all about her studies and the music of course. Afterwards, she just lay on the bed and cried for such a long time. It was her saddess phone call ever so far. Dennis we love you and send our sympathy to you on such a great loss but we hope you will visit with us again. We will have a wee toast with a toddy or two. To Eileen, who I had the privilage to meet also, we are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful son and a wave of sympathy to all the family. You have an angle looking after all of you from above. Much love and many blessing to all of you who will miss our dear and wonderful, kind friend Phil, R.I.P.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Phil's death. My husband and I met Phil at the Atlantic City Antique Show (probably 12 years ago) in what was to be the beginning of replacing and adding to my "everyday dishes!" Phil would always laugh affectionately at my "birthday or Christmas wish list" and end with "you know we will try to find these pieces." One of my fondest memories is when my friend Lydia(NC) and I went to visit Phil and Dennis at their home. It was just delightful to have the grand tour of their property and "behind the scenes of their successful transfer/china business!" Phil always made you feel like his select & special customer. I will miss his radiant smile and soul. Our heartfelt prayers and sympathy go to Dennis and his family. Sincerely, Pat Luke(DE)

I had the honor and privilege of caring for Phil in his final days. Although I only experienced a glimpse of his life (and what an incredible life it was), my memories of him and Dennis will be forever cherished in my heart.

Phil... I miss you and think of you often. You were such a special person, always taking the time to ask how you are and listen to what you had to say. You have touched many many hearts and I know you knew this by the great number of phone calls you recieved in the hospital. I love you and miss you.

Phil was one of my closest friends. We released our first record (Portable People- "Passion Beat") together back in 1981 and co-wrote over 100 songs. Phil was a great performer and bass player. He was also one of the kindest souls I have ever known. Generous and unassuming. Although we hadn't seen each other in years, we talked several times each year. Most recently, Phil was trying to locate tapes of our unreleased material so I could post it on my website for fans to listen to www.soundingrick.com
I learned of Phil's illness while on tour in Japan and had a chance to speak (and pray)with him by phone. I know he is in heaven and looking for a pen to write his next song! What a life to celebrate!

I am so shocked and sad about the loss of Phil. I only knew Phil from meeting him at the Charlotte antique fair twice a year, but that friendship spanned many years. I always looked forward to the November event, where I would always add to my collection of turkey china for my Thanksgiving table. I was just heartbroken to learn of his illness, and then his passing. He was a wonmderful, sweet man. To his Family and Loved Ones - Please know that Phil touched many people over the years in ways you can't possily know. He will always hold a special place in my heart and will be remembered fondly, especially at Thanksgiving, for the rest of my life.

The world of Antiques is greatly saddened by the untimely passing of such a great guy. Always a smile and a kind gentle word. He loved what he did and carried a quiet zest for life!! I will miss seeing him jog in the early morning before a show especially on Route 20 in Brimfield, Mass. He lived a healthy life and to be taken so young was a shock. He leaves many behind who loved and will miss him. To Dennis we say, he will always be a part of you and each of us and the world is going to miss the other hat. Hang in there and we are here for you!! To the Platten family, we did not know you, but we knew Phil loved you all very much. God Bless!
