Brockport: On Wednesday, November, 14, 2007. She was a former resident of Wellington Woods and most recently Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, Brockport. She is predeceased by husbands, Fred Broadbent, 1975 and Bruce Sutton, 1990. Helen (1912-2007) was the last surviving child of Anna Molt Maier Raforth (1869-1959); 10 brothers and sisters preceded her, Joseph Maier, Albert Maier, Carl Maier, Louisa Maier, Lena Raforth Leise, Louis Raforth, Anna Raforth Batz, Florence Raforth McCarthy, Julia Raforth and Frank Raforth. She was born in Rochester, NY, attended school in Bergen, NY, and was a longtime resident of the Village of Brockport. She was employed by Quaker Maid, Hunt Food, Rochester Telephone Company and Hitchcock Jewelers. She was a charter member of the Protective Fire Company Auxiliary, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a volunteer at Lakeside Hospital Gift Shop and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She dearly missed her friends and her card players at Wellington Woods as well as her many friends and service people in Brockport.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Broadbent (Anne O'Shea) of Homosassa, FL; granddaughters, Kathleen (William) Horne of Leesburg, VA, Barbara (Cliff) Sorel of Salisbury, NC and Patricia Broadbent-Rousos and friend Aaron Sicherman of Syracuse, NY; great-grandchildren, Helen, Daniel and William Horne; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, 1-3 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport, where a Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM following calling. Interment, Lake View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make tributes to Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, 170 West Ave., Brockport 14420 or First Presbyterian Church, 35 State St., Brockport, or Brockport Fire Department Ambulance Corps, Market St., Brockport.
