I too was a student of Mrs. Ortolani's at St. Margaret Marys, way back in the mid-1960s, when the majority of the teachers were nuns. She was one of my favorite teachers, and my Mom worked with Mr. Ortolani at the Post Office. I am sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, of former students who owe her a debt of gratitude for making them better readers, better spellers, and better people. May she rest in peace, and my condolences to the family. She was a wonderful lady!

I was a student in Mrs Ortolani's 3rd grade class way back when (1978 I think) at St. Margaret Mary. I was very sorry to hear that she passed away but I know that she touched so many lives in a positive manner along the way. I hope my children are fortunate enough to pass thru classrooms filled with as much joy as she brought to ours. Please know that we are including her and your family in our prayers.

Ida and Joe were both very loving and caring when I was a new teacher - just starting out on my own. Ida continued to be a friend and painting companion for many years. We shared a lot of laughs and sorrows over the years. I hope she is at peace with Christ and her loving husband. My deepest sympathy to Susan and her family.

Ida always inspired others to do their best when painiting. She was so willing to share all her little secrets of painting with her fellow painters at the Flower City Decorative Artist of New York chapter here in Rochester. She was a founding Member of this chapter.
She will be missed by all. A Donation will be given to the National Society of Decorative Painters in her memory

Suzi, Jeff & Family,
I will always remember how Ida's nurturing, maternal kindness eased my sorrow when my own mother passed. She was a lovely, gracious woman and will be missed by so many who had the privilege of knowing her. My love, prayers and sympathy are with you in this difficult time.
