John Courneen Obituary

Courneen, John Roger
Fairport: Age 88. December 4, 2007, after a brief illness. Roger was born April 22, 1919, in Rochester, NY, and resided in E. Rochester and Fairport, NY. Roger was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara (Coffee); his sisters, Ann (Schermerhorn) and Joan (Hurlburt); and his parents, John & Loilyn Courneen. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Roger was a proud member of the 601st Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force and saw significant action in World War II as a radio man on B-17's in Europe. Roger attended the University of Rochester after the war and worked for the US Postal Service, serving the E. Rochester community until his retirement. Roger was a free mason and a member of E. Rochester Lodge 163. Roger and Barbara were world travelers with area ski clubs and with groups of friends from Kodak. The family would like to thank the staff of the Fairport Baptist Home and the Palliative Center for Caring for providing Roger's comfort and peace in his final days.
Services were held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Palliative Center for Caring, 1450 Portland Ave., Rochester, 14621 or Fairport Baptist Home. Arr. by

January 4, 2008

Our deepest sympathies to the family. We met Roger last April or May. My husband, Francis J. Seymour, Jr. is a first cousin of Roger's, as their grandparents, Dennis Seymour and Margaret Seymour, were sister and brother.
